A plush either becomes the one that gets carried everywhere, or it sits on a shelf. The difference usually comes down to four things you can check before buying.
Size, honestly assessed
A plush that is too big to carry stays where you put it. If it is meant to travel — to a bed, a car, a bag — something a child can hold under one arm will get more use than something twice the size.
The face does the work
The face is what makes a plush read as a character rather than a shape. Our Plush Toys range is mostly licensed characters for exactly that reason: Winnie The Care Bear and Batman Care Bear both use the Care Bear body with a printed belly badge, so the character is legible from across a room.
Seams and surface
Look at where the limbs meet the body and how the ears are attached — those are the points that take the most pulling. Short, dense pile holds up better to handling than long pile, which mats.
Washing
Assume any plush that gets carried will need washing. A cool hand-wash and a flat dry is the safe default for anything with printed detail, since machine heat is what lifts print and flattens pile.
