The Oxford Stripe Set styled three ways on a plaster wall rail

Three ways to wear the Oxford Stripe Set

The Oxford Stripe Set is a red-and-navy horizontal stripe, sold as a top and short together. Because both halves are cut from the same stripe, it reads as a single piece from a distance. That is what makes it easy to build around: you can treat it as one outfit, or as two separates that already have a colour story.

1. Worn as it comes

This is the version that takes no thought. The two pieces are matched at the waist, so the proportion is already resolved and you are not deciding what goes with what. Flat sandals keep it daytime. If you want a little more shape, our Shoes collection has a kitten heel and a wedge that both work without changing the register.

2. Split the set

The striped top is the more flexible half. Because the stripe is a true red and a true navy, it sits happily against denim, white, and most solid neutrals. Try it with something plain from Bottoms so the stripe stays the only pattern in the outfit. The shorts do the same job in reverse under a plain tee.

3. Layered for later

Stripes take layering well because the pattern is regular. An oversized hoodie from Hoodies & Sweatshirts over the top, with the shorts still showing, turns the set into something you can keep wearing when the temperature drops in the evening.

Building the rest around it

If you like the set, the same logic applies to the rest of Matching Sets: each one is two pieces designed to go together, so the hardest decision is already made. The stripe versions in particular — Hampton, South Beach, Charleston and Flexion — all follow the same pattern of one strong stripe and a matched waist.
